What should I wear?

Beecraigs Festive Forest is an outdoor event, with a night-time woodland walk. Think practical and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a Scottish winter! Fingers crossed for good weather but as we know, Scottish weather can change hourly with a mix of crisp winter nights or showers. Layering is best and something waterproof is advisable, as is sturdy footwear. We recommend either wellies or walking boots for the Illumination Trail.

What if it is raining?

All visitors are reminded that this is an outdoor event and the weather may be inclement. There are no covered areas during the walk, and it is your own responsibility to wear appropriate warm and waterproof outdoor clothing and footwear.

Can I bring my dog?

We are big dog fans and they are welcome to visit Beecraigs Country Park, with plenty of woodland trails and outdoor areas for them to enjoy a walk, but unfortunately due to the nature of the Illumination Trail event (a large audience, loud soundscapes, bright lights and cables) it wouldn’t be comfortable for them and they will not be permitted into that event. Only service dogs will be allowed into the Illumination Trail event.

Am I allowed to bring food and drink into the event?

Beecraigs Country Park is carefully managed by West Lothian Council to provide a fantastic resource for visitors to enjoy our stunning natural environment.

Visitors are welcome to bring non-alcoholic drinks and food to the Country Park if they do not wish to use the café or food and drink village areas, but strictly no alcohol or glass is permitted.

Beecraigs Festive Forest will have a feast of food and drink available at the event, located at designated areas and on the Illumination Trail route, providing quality local food and drink. Keeping hands and tummies warm on the journey through the park are seasonal warm beverages, toasted marshmallows stalls and both soft and alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks will not be served to anyone under the age of 18 and a challenge 25 policy will be operating during the event.

Accessibility

What are the facilities and access for people with disabilities?

Beecraigs Country Park and the Beecraigs Festive Forest event is accessible to those with reduced mobility and specific needs, please note that some paths along the event route can be steep and care should be taken when navigating. Patrons are also advised that the underfoot conditions will not always be flat and that there may be uneven surfaces. Carers must be capable of supporting their companion with specific needs in the event of an emergency or evacuation of the area. Carers should be over 16 years old.

There will be no strobe effects during the event. However, those with a light sensitivity should be aware that there may be areas where there will be flickering or fast paced flashing lights at low intensity.

Parts of the event trail are immersive ‘experiences’ with multiple elements all at the same time (lighting, sound, fire). This can be overwhelming to guests with additional needs and hidden disabilities. We suggest attending the event on an early session as the natural lighting levels will reduce the contrast of darkness.

Please contact us if you have any questions about access and additional assistance on beecraigs@unique-events.co.uk.

Will there be allocated parking for people with disabilities?

There are disabled parking bays available within the Beecraigs Country Park car park entrance to the event located outside the Visitor Centre. If you require a disabled parking space at the event, please notify the Box Office when purchasing your ticket and this can be reserved for you.

If the event has to be cancelled due to extreme weather, tickets will be refunded automatically within seven working days. Visitors will be contacted by email with confirmation of refund and offered an alternative day/session where available.

Will a decision to cancel the event be made in advance?

If all sessions on any day are required to be cancelled due to extreme weather, a decision to cancel will be taken by 12noon on the day. If a decision is made to cancel the full event on any given day, we will endeavour to contact all ticket buyers by email and the information will be advertised on the official website and social media platforms.

For safety reasons, a decision may be made at any time during the evening to abandon, postpone or delay any or all of the advertised sessions. This information will be advertised on the official website and social media platforms.
